Rainbowsounds is a performance inspired by dreams and rituals. It involves the use of various masks and veils crafted by Boas herself, with transformation playing a central role. Additionally, Boas utilizes a video installation she developed at Steim, which is used to create live video and sound samples. During the performance, images are captured on-site with the masks and costumes, which are simultaneously played back on the projection. This allows for seven layers of projection to overlap, resulting in abstract visuals.
At the same time, a soundscape is created, as some masks and veils produce sound through the movement of the material or by incorporating bells and other noises. Once the soundscape is established, a text is sung. The texts reference meditation and guide the audience through a rich sensory journey of sound, color, and image, akin to a journey through a rainbow. This performance was presented at This Art Fair in 2021, with development support from the Balkon Scenes.
